Relocation Tip: The Clock Is Ticking To Begin Packing
Hiring a trained packer is the best way to ensure that your possessions arrive safe and intact to your new home. However, people now tend to pack themselves instead of spending money.
If packing for yourself, do not procrastinate until the last possible day. Start planning for your move as soon as you can, because it is a huge process, and if you wait too long, you may find yourself overwhelmed and out of time before you can finish.
Important Packing Tips:
Foremost of all, make a file of stuff that you require to set out for moving. Check with your transporter or ask for online moving quotes about probable habits to pack them. You should be especially careful about the way you pack frail objects.
Get enough boxes and wrapping material. Ask, at your local grocery or wine store for some empty cartons. Such cartons can be used for packing various things such as books, dishes, clothes, etc. You may also buy some plastic containers, which can be used for various purposes afterward.
When wrapping breakable items, you can use your garments and linen or you can purchase bubble wrap, too. Old newspapers are also very good to use for this purpose. It is not uncommon for them to damage clothing and other items.
You should also buy packaging tape for sealing cartons and markers for identifying their contents. Labeling your boxes can be useful when it comes time to unpack.
When the boxes are sealed, the top must be flat. Over packing can result in damaged products. Mark the boxes which contain fragile items. Be sure and mark the containers of things that you need right away so that they can be a top priority for unloading.
It is a good idea to write down your name, address, and the future room in your new residence to make it easier to transfer these boxes from the moving trailer. A smart idea is to keep inventory of what boxes you have and their contents so you know if you lose something.
You determination too require shears and a pointed blade for unpacking. These things should be included on your shopping list while you are starting to prepare to pack.
If you put your clothing in see through trash bags you'll know what is in each bag. Still, don't use thin gear which can rip and destroy easily. Many moving companies frown upon on clients who use garbage bags to pack their possessions. Minimize their use by purchasing the thickest bags possible.
Summary:
There is one final thing you must remember. Generally, your mover is responsible for any damage caused to your possessions during the move. However, if the cartons are packed by the owner, the mover is only responsible for the damage to contents caused by external damage to the cartons.
This means, if you do not pack your things properly, you are responsible for the damage caused. If the customer has not packed the carton properly, the moving company definitely has the right to deny the carton and has the right to ask him to repack it.
In order to avoid damage, you should double check yourself whether all the things are properly packed and all the cartons are carefully sealed.
I have 10 (250w, 120v, 2.5amp) lights connected to a timer. Can I override timer?
The wiring is as souch, Two circuits with 5 lights each. So I have two wires 5 lights on each. they go to a breaker each then from breaker to a small square d box, that i dont know what it is (but i m guessing is a transformer), then they go to a timer (intermatic et100c, spst, 120v clock supply, 30amp), then back to the square d box, then each wire goes to 5 lights each. The problem is the timer, I've ordered one, but for the time being can i overide the square d box and timer, and just wire the lights directly onto the respective breakers? or will this burn the ballasts?

I tried the manual overide while I was troubleshooting it, but none of the switches work on the timer, also the reset button doesnt work, nothing actually works on the timer.
The timer should have a manual override switch.
U.S. Responds to Earthquakes in Turkey (dipnote)
I recently had the opportunity to participate in delivering our assistance to
Turkey after a 7.3 earthquake struck Van and several towns in eastern Turkey.
I went with a team from several sections of the U.S. Embassy to help
coordinate the arrival of five flights carrying relief supplies donated by the
U.S. military.
I served in the embassy in Ankara during the 1999 earthquake, and knew how
devastating these can be in Turkey, despite best efforts to prepare for them.
We had been working with the Turkish government for several days before our
aid arrived, and I knew they were mounting an impressive effort to respond.
The United States joined over 20 other nations, including Armenia, Israel,
Egypt and Pakistan, in providing assistance. The Turkish Red Crescent and
other Turkish aid organizations received $300,000 in U.S. humanitarian
assistance funds, plus the U.S. Department of Defense flew in more than 2,000
cots, over a 1,000 blankets, and over 500 tents to help comfort victims as
they face dropping temperatures. The scale of the effort was brought home to
me, however, as soon as I arrived at the Ankara Airport on the way to Erzurum.
